Based on the wonderfully named novel The Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Total War: Three Kingdoms follows the premise of the text in that it is part historical, part fantasy and part myth.
The game is set in a version of China in around 190AD in which three main power blocs are vying for supremacy over the whole nation.
About the Game
The novel is complicated, with hundreds of characters and an equal number of side stories, and this has proved to be fertile ground for the designers, who have used the text as the basis for this, the latest Total War offering.
